Huntingdon Town - Plate (H)
Sunday 4th December
Ladies Win 5 - 0
It was a blistering start with Emma Hastings scoring the opening goal in a matter of minutes. Unfortunately soon after the first goal momentum was lost and despite initially passing the ball well it soon became disorganised. Huntingdon afforded themselves a few opportunities but fortunately for us were unable to make the most of them. A few good runs from the wings presented opportunity towards the end of the first half with Tina Oman making good use of her left foot. Run ragged we retired to the changing room.
Stepping out with the hope to turn it around and score some more goals it wasn’t too long before we were rewarded. A substitute and rearrangement on the pitch brought Jacqueline Stott into midfield who played a through ball in for Hayley Graham who slotted it past the keeper. Next a free kick from the recently brought on Stott saw her beating the keeper with her right. Rebecca Maybury stepped up with another a free kick from outside the box put it over the wall and inside the left post to make the final score 4-0. Sawbo attacked again from the KO winning a corner, which ended up at the far side of the box and was pick up by Ann Anstey who turned and hit the ball from outside the box and over the head of the ‘keeper, pushing the team into the next round.

Leverstock Green - League (A)
Sunday 30th October
Ladies draw 1 - 1
Travelling away there was a positive feeling in the air when we arrived at Leverstock Green. Attacking strongly in the first half there were lots of runs and attacks on goal with Sawbridgeworth having the majority of the possession. Winning corners and free-kicks it became apparent that this wasn’t going to be one of our days as we couldn’t seem to take advantage of any of our opportunities. With one breaking run in the first half the defence was split and we conceded. Knowing that this wasn’t a fair reflection of how we were playing heads remained up and we continued to attack as best we could until the half-time whistle.
Despite being exhausted from our un-utilised efforts in the first half we continued to be energetic on the pitch and largely the game was in the home teams’ half. With a good rotation of substitutions Lauren Barnard and Katie Eyre were strong in their positions. Ann Anstey became a utility player moving around the pitch picking up work in almost every position on the pitch. Hannah Fraser was promoted to the wing affording opportunity in the box. With Emma Hastings making runs here, there and everywhere the team was working well and hungry for a goal. A frustrated Leverstock defence fouled Hastings in the box and a penalty was awarded. Jacqueline Stott stepped up to take it, with an intake of breath as she had missed one the previous week, fortunately she was cool as a cucumber slotting it past the keeper to make it 1-1. Though we continued to attack hard there was nothing coming. A solid performance and a hard earned point, one that may be important later on.

Thunder Thighs + Skinny Jeans in Paris
Thursday 15th September
This week we see two key players cycling from London to Paris in aid of Friend of Edusport, a charity which helps youths in Zambia to reach their potentials through education and sports.
Jackie Stott aka Thunder Thighs and Freya Liiv aka Skinny Jeans' journey started in the early hours of Wednesday, cycling through the gustering wind with other fellow cyclists and already there are stories to tell including punctured tyres and a written off bike.
Today saw the team cross the channel at 10am in fancy dress and if you were travelling at the time, you may have thought "what on Earth!!!"
If you would like to follow their journey, they will be tweeting (when they can) @miss_stott, @freyaliiv and you can also follow @FoEduSport for updates.
If you would like to support the girls and donate to this charity, please click here for Jackie's and Freya's page.
On behalf of everyone at the club, GOOD LUCK!
